Lace
Lace, in all its forms, has been an important part of my work, as necessary to me as cloth or paper or thread. As a design element, I am intrigued by its ambiguous quality - part solid, part air. I love the way the background showing through the lace can be as important as the lace itself. Lace carries implications of delicacy, of femininity, of times past. This is something I can work with and play up, or perhaps play against.
